Arts Month 2014 Celebration in Santa Maria, Laguna

Santa Maria Laguna celebrated the National Arts Month 2014 on February 27 by holding contests in Drawing, Declamation and Interpretative Dance.

The Office of the President, together with the National Commission of Culture and the Arts rally the country to celebrate this event thus appreciate the artistic talents our citizens can offer. For more details, see Philippine Government's Official Website.

The Drawing contest, which was participated by elementary and high school students, was held at Santa Maria Elementary School Hall in the afternoon; the rest of the competitions were conducted at the town plaza.

These are the champions in the three contest categories:

Drawing Contest: John Rick Orense of J. Santiago Annex
Mrs. Shirley Timbol announced the winners
The artwork will be the MARILAG Festival Official shirt/poster design.

Declamation Contest: Roma Aguado of Santa Maria Academy
No. of Contestants: 18
Mam Shirley Ison announced the winners

Dance Contest (Kanta, Pilipinas): SMNHS Grade 8 group
Number of Contestants: 9
Mrs. Belle Pestrana announced the winners

Dancers from one of Santa Maria Academy's dance troups accidentally fell during their bench stunt performance. Good thing no one was hurt. They were the third placers! :)
