Street Food Series: Cheap Eats

If you happen to visit our municipality, don't forget to stroll across our streets and look for tasty delicacies. Their amount will not hurt your pocket much for their prices range from 5-15 pesos only.

Aside from socializing, Filipinos love to eat. They are known to have their eating schedule 6 times a day. Aside from breakfast, lunch and dinner, they also have snacks between meals and even midnight munches. Some people don't have to go to groceries or restaurants when hungry for food is available right in front of their houses. Some of them being sold in our streets are kwek-kwek, isaw, turon and camote cue:
Kwek-kwek being sold in front of Santa Maria Elementary School
Kwek-kwek is made of egg dipped in flour. Vinegar is a perfect condiment for this food. It is usually sold in the streets for 5 pesos each and can be eaten using stick or soup bowl

Kuya Je's isaw, sold in Brgy, uno
Isaw is the intestine of a chicken broiled and sold on a stick. I can't assure you whether it is safe to eat, but to be sure, just ask the person who sells it where he bought it or whether he washed it well. It tastes good if dipped in vinegar.

Turon being cooked by ate Janice
Turon is banana wrapped in spring roll wrapper. To make one, just cut the whole banana into halves, dip them in sugar then wrap them. Fry them in a heated oil. You can buy this food beside the town plaza. (Php 10 each)

Khristine tearing a piece of camote cue
Camote cue is a sweet potato dipped in sugar then fried. Sweet potato is a root crop and has antioxidants.
