MARILAG FESTIVAL FEATURE STORY: POBLACION DOS BOOTH

Trade Fair Booth opening was formally held during the first day (Apr.2). Its purpose is to showcase
every barangay's product and heritage. Crops, flowers and edibles were featured in other booths. Now, We will take a closer look at Brgy. Dos' theme--ancestral house.

Being an old hometown, classic houses were established in Santa Maria. These days there were few which can be found here. Most of them were replaced with houses of modern types.

Brgy. Dos' booth takes us back to the days were such houses can be visited. There are also interesting finds, aka. 'antiks' which bring memories of yesterday.

The Gilingang Bato (upper right corner) is used in making kakanins. Tita Glo Del Mundo said that they used it to cook their food when there was a 7-month brownout here. Prinsa is used to iron clothes (upper left corner). It's an equivalent of 'plantsa'. Salt was put in that medium-sized jar. Old sungkaan and salakot owned by Naring Angeles can also be seen in the booth corner.

Aside from Capiz windows, the booth is decorated with native curtain/dividers, crocheted covers and flowers made of wooden barks and mahogany buds.

Puto is sold here as well!

Ka Marissa Colcol, Tito Ronel Angeles and Kapitan
Raoul Nitro headed the setting up of the booth.
