Marilag Town Vocalists and Instrumentalists (A Music Video Compilation)

“A painter paints pictures on canvas. But musicians paint their pictures on silence.”
 ― Leopold Stokowski

I have roamed around different corners of the Facebook and Youtube to search for our kababayans' videoclipped music performances. Who would have thought we have a bunch of them known on the web? Most of them sing/play in the school, church, special events and even competitions. Some make it a hobby and post them on the internet. Indeed, Santa Maria, Laguna is filled with musicians who are worth recognizing for their creativity and rhythmic passion. So, let me introduce them one by one, along with their songs:

Jannakeith Ganio (9 years old) had her first recital in Milan, Italy. She resides there together with her parents. She learned playing the piano 2 years ago during her vacation in the Philippines and continues developing her craft  upon going back to Italy. She also likes to pursue singing.

Jaziel Maderazo plays the song, 'Same Ground', by Kitchie Nadal. Aziel (as her friends call her), is a BS Nursing Graduate.

Andrew Avecilla, the husband of Marinel Avenido of Alaminos, Laguna, is a Hotel Receptionist in Padova, Italy. He also plays the piano, banduria (under Temoteo de Castro's training) and guitar. During his elementary days, he took piano lessons under the tutelage of five UP Conservatory of Music teachers. He also went to Yamaha school of Music in San Pablo City.

He got involved in LSPU live band and became Music Ministry head of El Shaddai Padova Chapter Gospel Choir (2003-2007) while assisting
its chapter activities and cell groups. Right now he is actively involved in Sinulog Veneto (Pianist), Veneto Men's Choir (Pianist), Santa Maria del Carmeni Choir (Pianist),  Kapisanan ng mga Pilipino sa Como Chorale, Filipino Chaplaincy of Padova, Italy (Musical Director) and Filipino Community of Padova Italy (Secretary). He loves music, arts, videoediting and photography. The above clip features his performance in Milan. On this youtube link, he shared his own rendition of one of Lea Salonga's songs.

Bea Villanueva playing 'Coming Round the Mountain' during the first Santa Maria Elementary School Recital last 2011. She is the granddaughter of Mr. Cardo and Mam Nellie Reyes.

Francis Yves Catudio is a graduate of HRM and currently resides at Pasig City. He loves reading, surfing the net and watching NBA. Silent Sanctuary and Blink 182 are some of his musical influences.

Anne Angeles lives in Saipan with her mom (Deng Angeles) and sister (Sai Angeles). At a very young age, she showed a remarkable talent in singing. She will be studying forensics at New Jersey this school year.

Our musically-inclined Municipal Budget Officer plays 'Ikaw' on this clip. Mrs. Isabelita Octavio Uri-Pestrana is the daughter Mr. Leonardo Uri, one of our former Vice Mayors. She learned piano at the age of 5. Having her mom as her first music teacher, she remembered having her little fingers marked with numbers.   'Tatay Ipe' Racelis, Mr. Andrew Avecilla's tutor, trained her as well. Being hit with a stick was the discipline they received those days. She resides at Brgy. Tres with her husband (Abner Pestrana). Dogs, fruit-bearing trees, flowers and nature inspire her.

Lyzandra Magmanlac plays 'I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing'. She contributes her skills in special events at San Pablo City. She is the daughter of Mr. Popo Real (a band coach before) and Mam Lorna Real (a retired elementary teacher and the founder of 'Taga Santa Maria Laguna ka Kung...' facebook group). Her interests include airsofting, forensic investigations, conspiracy theories and digging articles about earth's unsolved mysteries. She now works as a Sales Counselor.

Julianne Elle Blanch, a Miriam College pupil, sings the 'Reflection' during her summer recital. She now lives with her lola, Eva Blanch, at Quezon City. She plays the piano too :)

Pastor Gerry Olarte sings and plays the song he sang to his wife (Elisa Olarte) during their wedding. Having undergone a training with Tatang Sabas, he is now passionately practicing his craft in Westminster, Colorado. His sons and daughters are into music as well.

Ok, kami rin. Haha. :) The one singing here is JM Olarte. He currently works at Kalayaan, Laguna as a Municipal Link. During this time, we were practicing for our Christmas Concert.

SMES Choir singing the 'Amazing Grace' in Musikahan Contest held at Mabitac Elementary School (2009). The group, being coached by Mr. Sonny Uri and Mam Caridad Sayas, is actively involved in Lagunawide music competitions.

Mia Kyarra Rollo was a student of Santa Maria Academy. She now sings at Universal Records. Awesome! :)
