Affordable Summer Delights: Marilag Ecopark, Timbangan River, Himao Resort & 99 Falls
Summer heat is undeniably here! Families, gangs, workmates and the like run to and fro to find places to enjoy and at the same time escape the hot days. Just this afternoon, I saw along J. Rizal St. a jeepney overflowing with passengers who are headed to one of the resorts here in Santa Maria. Locals report that visitors flock the popular bathing places. If you don't want to be left out, better head to one of these four happy options:
1. Marilag Ecopark (Brgy. Laurel)
One needs to trek a quite challenging trail before he/she approaches the falls. A steeper path needs to be conquered before one sees the rewarding falls located on the farthest (3rd) level of the site. But good time may start by dipping on the river rushing at the foot of the mountain.
Oh, don't forget paying the entrance fee (P20 adult; P10 kids).

2. Himao River (Brgy. Calangay)
Seeing luscious rice paddies, coming across horses on their way to their work and crossing a shallow river are the things you'll experience before arriving the resort. Calangay is such a silent place where nature is the one that communicates with you.
Entrance Fee: P10
Cottage Fee: P200
3. 99 Falls (Brgy. Laurel via J. Santiago Highway)
99 Falls is a site worth visiting. Its soothing, cool waters are powerful antidote to summer heat.
Entrance Fee: P25
4. Timbangan River (Brgy. Bagumbayan)
